Call for Written Submissions on Review of Electoral System - Closing Date 30 November 2009
In accordance with its orders of reference, the Joint Committee on the Constitution will undertake an examination of the functioning of the current electoral system for the election of members of Dáil Éireann (proportional representation by means of a single transferable vote in multi-seat constituencies (PR-STV)), as well as an evaluation of potential alternatives, in the light of international experiences of electoral system reform. In undertaking this review, the Committee will examine aspects of the procedure for election to Dáil Éireann prescribed by Article 16 of the Constitution.
