| The Taxi Regulator |

During the Order of Business in the Seanad, I said: The debate on taxis on “The Frontline” television programme on Monday was interesting. It was the type of debate that should take place in this House. One person was missing from the debate, namely, the Taxi Regulator who refused the invitation to attend... I assume the regulator is a paid public servant. If there is a case to be made for taxi regulation, and I am sure there is, the regulator should attend such debates. I do not know why the regulator refused to attend. There is no excuse for it. Will the Leader ask the Minister whether this is a policy of avoiding confrontation and explanations, a policy that should not be supported? |
